FREE DIABETES TESTING - Early diagnosis of the onset of Diabetes is essential as it is regarded as the biggest single cause of preventable blindness.

Organized by The Lions and with assistance from Diabetes UK (Eastbourne Branch) testing usually takes place once a year only.

All tests are conducted by nursing professionals from the Eastbourne District General Hospital and takes just two to three minutes. All those tested are advised of the results and particularly if it is felt necessary to contact their G.P.

On 28th July 2006 160 people were tested. 18 of these (over 11%) were referred to their G.P. for further tests. A clear indication of the importance of regular tests.
